Why PreggyPal

The problem we solve

Maternal care can feel fragmented once a mother leaves the clinic. Keeping track of symptoms, appointments, scans, nutrition, and reliable health information can be overwhelming.

PreggyPal helps bridge the gap between clinical visits and everyday motherhood.

260,000women died in 2023 from pregnancy-related causes — more than 700 every day.
92%of those deaths happened in low- and lower-middle-income countries.

PreggyPal is designed to meet you where you are, then stay with you as things change.

  1. 01

Red flag recognisedEscalation guidance comes first

Built for real life

Designed for the mothers the system reaches last.

Low bandwidth, shared phones, long distances and full hands. The product has to work in those conditions, not just in a demo.

The last mile

Built for low data and long distances

Lightweight pages, offline-first content and language that works for mothers and community health workers alike.

The fourth trimester

Care that continues after birth

Recovery, feeding, mental health and newborn milestones — because support should not stop at the six-week check.

Between visits

A calmer answer at 3 a.m.

The questions that arrive between appointments get a sourced, plain-language answer — and a clear next step when one is needed.

Safety by design

It escalates. It does not diagnose.

A maternal health tool earns trust by knowing its limits. PreggyPal is built to recognise risk, say plainly when a person is needed, and never stand between a mother and urgent care.

What is PreggyPal?

PreggyPal is a maternal health companion in development for pregnancy, birth and a baby's first year. It is designed to give plain-language answers with visible sources, flag symptoms that need urgent care, and keep appointments and check-ins in one timeline. It is not a doctor or an emergency service.

Who is PreggyPal for?

PreggyPal is for expectant and new mothers, their families, and the community health workers who support them. The first version is designed for mothers across Africa, with a clinical evidence base drawn from global guidance.

Is PreggyPal a replacement for my doctor or midwife?

No. PreggyPal is a companion for information and navigation between appointments. It does not diagnose, prescribe or replace antenatal care. Every urgent question should go to your care team.

Is the app available now?

PreggyPal is in development. The first version is being built with clinical review and design-partner feedback; the waitlist is the best way to hear when it opens.

Where does the guidance come from?

Content is grounded in publicly available guidance from the WHO, CDC, ACOG and NHS, and is reviewed by clinicians before publication. AI assistance helps people find and understand that content, but answers are bounded by reviewed guidance and escalation rules. Answers show the sources they draw on. Alignment does not imply endorsement by those organisations.

What happens in an emergency?

PreggyPal is designed to tell you to contact emergency services or your maternity unit immediately. It is not an emergency service and never delays urgent care with a chat response.

When will PreggyPal launch, and where will it be available?

There is no public launch date or country-by-country availability list yet. PreggyPal is in development with clinical review and design-partner feedback. The waitlist will share launch milestones and pilot regions first.

Is PreggyPal a medical device?

No. PreggyPal is an information and navigation companion, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, prescribe, monitor a baby or replace antenatal care. Those limits are permanent design decisions, not launch caveats.

Will it work without a strong internet connection?

Low-bandwidth use is a core design goal. The first release is being tested on slow connections and shared devices, with offline content packs planned for the pilot.

What happens to my health data?

Health data is treated as sensitive by default: collect less, explain why, and never sell it. The app will have its own privacy notice before launch. This website stores nothing from the contact form.
